[opensuse] Kate Document Tab
I don't know if this is the right place to post, but I have a Kate-related question. Whenever I open a text file (php, txt, htm, asp, sql) in Kate, which I do quite often, I see a tab on the left showing the open documents I have. I can click it to "minimize" it to the left, but it always is there. I'd prefer to have the screen real estate. I've looked and cannot find an option for this to be "minimized" by default. Is there such an option? -- kai - theperfectreign@yahoo.com www.perfectreign.com || www.4thedadz.com www.filesite.org || www.donutmonster.com wo ist der ort für den ehrlichsten kuss ich weiss, dass ich ihn für uns finden muss... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

At the top of this document frame at the right there's a small x. Click on that and the frame goes away. (And stays away if you leave kate in this state) When you want it back just click the tab at the far left. (There are three: Documents - Projects - Systembrowser) Frankly I think Documents is one of the less useful possibilities. Systembrowser that gives you the system tree on the other hand can be quite useful on occasion. Thanks. However, I don't see any "x" or similar item in either frame. I'll keep looking. :) -- kai - theperfectreign@yahoo.com www.perfectreign.com || www.4thedadz.com www.filesite.org || www.donutmonster.com wo ist der ort für den ehrlichsten kuss ich weiss, dass ich ihn für uns finden muss... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hm. Suse 9.3 here, Kate 2.4, KDE 3.4.0 level b. Maybe they changed things in a later version. I'll send you a snapshot off list. Could be. Here's a snapshot of mine: http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/suse/2006/kate_doc_tab.jpg -- kai - theperfectreign@yahoo.com www.perfectreign.com || www.4thedadz.com www.filesite.org || www.donutmonster.com wo ist der ort für den ehrlichsten kuss ich weiss, dass ich ihn für uns finden muss... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

In the new Kate, you have to click on the document tab itself for it to retract (toggle). If you close Kate with the tab retracted, it will stay so when you reopen the same session. Thank you! Is that 10.2 Kate? I tried this (before and after your email) and didn't get that behavior. The document tab seems to have a mind of its own and won't go away even when told. I'm using Kate 2.5.1 for Suse 10.1, but I noticed this behaviour change between Kate for 9.3 to 10.1. CFL -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
