[SuSE Linux] Improving X Performance
My X-windows (running Kde) take a long time to load, on a Pentium II 450 with 128MB memory, is there a solution or something I need to do, to optimize the performance. I have the swap partition at max (128mb) ---------- Marshall Burke -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

The only trick I've heard of, to make X start faster is to remove resoltions that you don't use. If you only need 1024x768, you don't need 800x600, nor 640x480 listed. This greatly speeds up X starting by skipping testing on unused resolutions. I don't know a thing about KDE, sorry. -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
