Hello,
I have installed SuSE 8.1 from the DVD. Now I want to copy the entire DVD into a partition of the hard disk. The problem is that I have copied al the contents of the DVD of SuSE 8.1 to the hard disk, but when I want to change the installation source in YaST2, and point to this partition, it doesn't work.
You have to copy the file .S.u.S.Eblah-blah also. Normal copy operation doesn't do it because the filename starts with a dot.
If you use tar to copy whole trees, I find it's the most reliable: $ cd /cdrom $ tar cf - . | ( cd /imagedir; tar xfpS - ) -Nick
