I guess I never got around to removing xcdroast because on my 8.2 system it's installed in /usr/bin and so is cdrecord. So it may be that it's just being cranky...I don't know. But if both packages are taken off the CD's and the requirement of them both being in the same directory is real then I would assume SuSE knows this. They shouldn't be in seperate directories.
Just give k3b a try. It really is nice. :)
