Actually, it is fully supoprted... The Radeon 7000 (also known as the Radeon VE) is in the SuSE hardware database. http://hardwaredb.suse.de/connectuserServer.php?PHPSESSID=92bacfc175c6869587725b7723ed33f9&manufactor=ati&device=radeon&LANG=en_UK&offset=0&typ=easySearch&basesub=5 And believe me... before you go and get you NVidia card, I have had fewer issues with cards from ATI, than the Geforce models. What elese is in your system that could be causing you problems? Does your system have an integrated video set as well? - Herman Thom Nuzum wrote:
i checked some suse google lists and it seems like my card is full of problems on suse. it is not listed as supported on any versions, though other radeon cards are. in conclusion i have 3d support so long as i dont touch sax sax2 or yast which is not an option. if i do use these my system will crash and with safe mode i get V synch out of range error and must reinstall X packs.
luckily i still have 2 weeks to return the card which gives me time to tweek around.
thanks (incidentally it is supported in redhat 7.3, which i have tried and don't like. gnome is dreadful and they refuse to offer kde updates so your forced to use gnome.) i may try gefore 4 or some newer supported radeon card on this list.
