Can someone assist me to sort out a 100% CPU usage by FireFox. It happens with all 3.X versions. FF is unusable at the moment. I have searched and see that it has been a problem in most FF versions and Linux. I need an urgent fix. Our ERPII system uses Web Browsers (Web 2.0 & LAMP). The Windows users with M$IE have no problems, but it is banned in our company.
System: OpenSUSE 10.3 Linux ~ 2.6.22.19-0.1-default #1 SMP 2008-10-14 22:17:43 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux FireFox: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-2.3 Firefox/3.0.5
I'm using 32 bit 11.0/KDE3 without eye candy on a 3.4G Cedar Mill P4 (Hyperthreading) with 4G RAM, Intel G31 video. With 2 Youtube tabs, http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0110684/ and tabs for 5 of the people in that movie's images pages, top shows FF using 400M virt & 130-140% CPU, with overall CPU between 60-70%. I have installed flash-player and various goodies like libdvdcss & vlc from the non-default repos. It takes FF a ridiculous time just to switch tabs. -- "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6 NIV Team OS/2 ** Reg.
