How can I set the system too boot into console mode instead of graphical one?
Same as always, append 3 to kernel cmdline at boot time. In your case, choosing a failsafe Grub stanza might also work, but it too might need a 3 appended. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
