You haven't said how you are running samba, but I presume it is in 'standalone' mode and not serving as a domain controller. In order to help further, you need to post the output of your smb.conf. its just a very simple server with a few shares. No domain no nothing. Workgroup, nmb and smb come up norally and shares are there, only people say its slower than it used to be.
