I recently did an in place upgrade from 12.2 to 12.3 and seem to have lost the ability to make desktop changes that survive a reboot. With the following repositories http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.3/repo/oss http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/12.3/repo/non-oss http://download.opensuse.org/update/12.3/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/games/openSUSE_12.3/ ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/12.3/ http://opensuse-guide.org/repo/12.3/ http://packman.inode.at/suse/12.3/ http://download.opensuse.org/source/distribution/12.3/repo/oss/ http://download.opensuse.org/update/12.3-non-oss/ enabled I performed a zypper dup and with only one conflict resolution got a functioning operating system -- I wanted nvidia in there so I could see a comprehensible display after the upgrade then I added http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/411/openSUSE_12.3/ and with another zypper dup got a newer KDE (4.11.4) in my main menu there are two Configure Desktops -- the upper one is worded "Configure Desktop" and seems to have a more modern gui -- the lower one is worded "Personal Settings (Configure Desktop)" and the gui is less modern I can change things, eg the keyboard repeat delay, in the upper modern gui, but the changes have no effect -- when I change them in the lower gui the things I change get changed, but they are back to defaults after a reboot. I have to do this the Powerdevil settings, turning NumLock on, and nothing I've tried so far has succeeded in attaching firefox to Win-F, or Ksnapshot to PrintScreen or dolphin to Win-E any help will be appreciated -- _|_ _ __|_|_ ._ o| |_(_)(_)|_| ||_)||< | -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
