(snips)
Well, I can't speak for the actual DVD, but it's in the ftp sources as version 1.2.3-6.1 (same version, different build) so you might try uninstalling the one you have and getting the package from an ftp mirror. You could also mount the DVD and look for it manually under <mountpoint>/suse/i586. I find it hard to believe it's on the ftp and not the dvd.
The version I have is the latest on the Pacman site. If you can point me to another that has the more recent build that would be great. I did mount the DVD, went to <mountpoint>.suse/i586 and there is NOT anything audacity in the over 3000 rpms shown there. :o( It does not exist on this DVD (or it is WELL hidden!). :o) (snip)
Note also this interesting issue: I cannot search for anything on the 9.3 DVD using the Yast search function in "Install and Remove Software." When I select "search" and then try to enter what I want to locate, nothing shows up. The cursor is in the box, but no letters can be entered. I am locked-out of the search function.
Is this in KDE, running yast itself, or through the KDE Control Centre?
Through the KDE Control Center.
I've seen that "behaviour" and as a result always use yast in a terminal or on a console.
The way I have to find things is to select "Package groups" and then "zzz All." That was how I found the two wxGTK packages. But even using this method there is no Audacity to be found.
You were looking with a lower-case "a" weren't you (not being sarky, just a silly mistake I've made in the past!)
Well, actually I am not able to search using an "a" or an "A." Remember, I can't enter **anything** at all into the "Install and Uninstall Software" search function. It's effectively disabled as far as I can tell Thanks. Gil
