Helo list, I've upgraded on 6.4 to kernel 2.2.16 (kernel source) and after a kernel recompile (used same settings when 'make menuconfig'-ing as for previous kernel) and install, and reboot i got various problems: a. gpm did not work and errors about the serial ports: modprobe: Can't locate module char-major-4 modprobe: Can't locate module ppp0 b. also the VM errors other people complained about (a second kernel compile did not work, cuz gcc crashed! 32 Mb should be enough, shouldn't it?) Did anybody had this? And how did you solve it? I only 'rpm -Uvh' installed lx_suse (2.2.16) source --- should you also install a new devs package (i remember seeing a ref to that)? However, lx_suse.rpm did not require that... Btw, the mk_initrd and lilo were done by make, i compiled as (big kernel): # make menuconfig # make dep clean bzImage # make modules modules_install # cp -p /usr/src/linux/.config /boot/vmlinuz.config.suse64.eric # make bzlilo (Inserted a floppy): # make bzdisk # make clean Bye-bye, Eric -- Eric Maryniak <e.maryniak@pobox.com> Home page: http://pobox.com/~e.maryniak/ University of Amsterdam, Department of Psychology.
