Unless the documentation for a packages says to uninstall before upgrading, don't do so, the point of upgrading is just that - you upgrade rather than remove then install. If you're upgrading Evo from the www.usr-local-bin.org packages, please wait for the SuSE.jeo.3 packages which I'm building just at the minute... Evolution will maintain it's settings across an upgrade (unless for some reason you're upgrading from a *really* old version, but even in this case, it shouldn't lose your actual mail.)
I want to upgrade a package I have e.g. evolution. Should I uninstall the old one first then reinstall the new one? What about (in the case of evolution about the mail & settings it currently has? -- James Ogley, Unix Systems Administrator, Pinnacle Insurance Plc james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk www.pinnacle.co.uk +44 (0) 20 8731 3619 Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.0) Updated GNOME RPMs for SuSE Linux: www.usr-local-bin.org
