Whenever I turn-on my computer, my newly installed OpenSuSE 10.3 is prompting me to login (black and white screen) instead of the green coloured KDE login screen. The only way I can do is to login with root account and then key-in the command "kdm", then the system will show me the KDE login screen. Please advise me, thank you. --
When you say 'black and white screen' do you mean that there is only text on your screen? No mouse, no windows to drag? If so, it probably means that your runlevel is set to 3 by default. Runlevel 3 will always bring you to the console (also called command line interface) after startup. After you go into the GUI, go to YaST, click on System -> System Services (Runlevel). Click on Expert Mode.
