I have done the install, built the driver as root, added my user to the
vboxuser group and it does not start from my user, but will if I start from a root terminal, not sure what is wrong. I did the same thing on my last system (11.1) and it worked fine.
*assure* that your are a member of "vboxusers"
ie: issue groups from cl as <user>.
Ok, did that and found it did not show me added. I had restarted the computer after adding for another reason and my account auto logs on. I still needed to log out and back on, weird as I thought that the restart would have covered that, guess not. I am all set now, thanks all.
And.. make sure you log out, and back in again so the groups are attached to your user id.

Well, after getting VirtualBox running, I logged back out and was going to check operation on another user and could not log back into the system. Then up popped a message that my /tmp was full (??), had to drop to RL3 and delete some files, then tried to move some lib files to another open partition and CRASH. Oh well I am back running and I'll do Vbox again.. Me and Electronics are not getting along today.
