Anyway, I just checked and it looks like Mac uses Emacs 29.1, in which case my method works. Sure enough. we can write the Emacs font settings in Xresouce, then add the 'xrdb -merge ~/.Xreesouces ' setting to the .bashrc etc., but this is not the way to go.
