Since this appears to be a group with persons of many interests, I am searching for a program, along the lines of Blue Iris (windows) or ISpy (multi platform) to monitor perhaps 5 IP Video Cameras. The typical set of features would be necessary, such as, motion detection, zoning, alerts, and so on. . . What kind of cameras do you use? Power over Ethernet? WiFi? I'm looking to install a few too.
I'm thinking that POE over an isolated IOT subnet is the way to go.

Have an older HIKVison and a current ANNKE, both "entry level", but sufficient for my needs, Both are POE. I would not choose WiFi for IP cameras. They need power anyway "Solar/Batter" solutions aside, so why risk the attendant issues? I'll take a close look at OSS ZoneMinder. Currently looking for some POE switches as well. I had used an "Injector" in the past, but found it was quite sensitive to power spikes and would need to be reset after the slightest glitch. Probably find if on a UPS, but, a good POE switch, on a UPS, seems a cleaner, simpler solution. The cameras definitely need to be on their own subnet (IMHO), even if a "SOHO" install, and isolated, firewall'ed if not air gap'ed, from the Wilds, as they may have a desire to "phone home" regardless of any "opt out" directives.
