I get a "no DNS forward lookup" error message from my rpc.mountd when I try to mount an exported directory from a NFS Client machine. Pinging the machine using the full name.host.domain causes "unknown host" to show as result so I am guessing our DNS servers are not resolving the ip to name correctly but this is just a guess.
Looks like a pretty safe guess to me :) To verify that this is the only problem, you could mount with the ip address, the host name isn't mandatory. mount -t nfs <ip-address>:/sharename /mountpoint If that works then either add the hostname/ip to the file /etc/hosts, or yell at your dns admin :) -- Anders Johansson <andjoh@rydsbo.net>
