Thanks. When watching the instruction videos on youtube
most of them are completely obsolete :-( I noticed that, a lot are release 15. I've ignored anything before 2016 and earlier than release 16.
, when the cursor is
moved to the edges or corners of the clips in the timeline, little green flashes appear to click on to activate an effect etc. This does not happen with me,
just tested with 16.12, whern you set the cursor near an angle, a hand is displayed and a tooltip: clic to add an effect. Seems to add a cross fade (dissolve), the lower track having priority against the upper. Yes, i get the hand too, i didn;t seem to get a tooltip though, maybe i'd better go through the config to see if i've turned tooltips off
the cross fade is as large as the overlay between the two tracks, may be very small, and is shown as a small square I have tried enlarging the timeline
orange here (not selected)

jdd Thanks for the help, i'll go away and practice a bit now to see if i can get the flashes up (orange or green)
