That's not a very good idea. All your hard disks are owned by group "disk", so now you have permissions to completely trash them.
Ah. OK. I've changed this, and chmoded /dev/hdc, and I can now open DVDs. My problem now is that playback is as choppy as before I binned ide-scsi and enabled DMA.
