I bought WP 7 and found it too buggy to use. It was not wasted money as it helps Corel to notice the Linux community (so I agree--thank you Corel!), but I am a little disappointed that they didn't offer an upgrade or anything.
If you just want to whip out a letter, use LyX, AbiWord, Maxwell, etc. Writing a letter on Corel is like multiplying two numbers using Mathematica: it works, but it's much more than the right tool for the job. Corel is not open source and is clearly aimed at the business user.

BTW, It's not really free. You must agree to the following when you download it: you get a 90 day trial period (complete with annoying little "your trial period will run out in xxx days" dialogs), then you must register it. To get online help, manuals (necessary for such a complex program!), etc. you must pay the $70.
Yeah, you are right. It is not open source, and when that clumsy install program failed, I thought I was hit with a virus.:-) But when some novice-computer-user says "hey can I write my uncle a letter on your box", wp8 comes in handy. You can put a graphic, clipart, and text on a single page, and print it, with about a 2 minute tutorial. I'm not experienced with unix printing, and I find it useful for doing 2-sided printing of small text files. If someone asks you to setup their old 486 to be a word processor, and dosn't want to spend a dime, nor learn anything, you could throw redhat in , and wp8. I'm keeping it on file, just for that reason. It really isn't top notch, but it loads fast, is about as easy to understand as word, and works OK, at least on my machine. Of course Corel is going to make it "less polished" than the "pay-for" version. No fonts, etc. But a "guest-user" probably wouldn't even know what a font is, and you don't have to explain what postscript is or ghostscript is. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
