If this is an nVIDIA card, how did you get it to work? I believe I have the same one in my Dell. I had to get the drivers nvidia.rpm and nv_glx.rpm from the SuSE update site to make it function. Still the 3D screensavers in KDE won't work with it and the 3D drawing functions in StarOffice won't work. This is no big loss but I am just curious if you are configuring something that I did not. I added the "glx" line to my XF86Config file also.
I have the same experiences with a Diamond Viper 550 card. The 3D screensavers (from xscreensaver) WILL run if you run them as root (e.g. xlock-mesa -nolock -mode whatever3d), so I guess it has to do with some permissions. StarOffice 5.2 chokes on 3D for me also. I also had to configure the modelines in XF86Config manually to get any good resolutions and screen refresh. I copied the modelines from an old X3 XF86Config. You probably have to lower the vertical synq with the nvidia drivers. In X-Free 3 with svga (and win98) I had 1152x864 with 100 Hz. The highest I can get with nvidia is 78 Hz. Good picture though. cheers Niklas Hulden
