What's up with USB scanners?

Hi fellows, Has any of you heard something new about the state of USB scanning under Linux? The web site http://www.buzzard.org.uk/jonathan/scanners-usb.html which used to be the source of information in previous days is hopelessly out of date. What's wrong here? Cheers ...
