Had installed KDE2 and added it to the windowmanager list on the graphical login. Well, it wouldn't work. I then tried several other WMs from the drop-down list, and none of them work. I usually do not use the graphical login, so I never noticed this before. I can start the other WMs from the console as follows: #WINDOWMANAGER=gnome startx This works fine. Any ideas as to why the drop-down list does not work? Started KDE2 (using the above method) and the first thing I noticed was that although it retained my desktop shortcuts - all of the icons (except for a few of the default ones) were missing - they had been replaced by question marks. Is this just a simple matter of moving and or copying the icons (i.e. from KDE 1.1.2) so that KDE2 can find them? I logged out of KDE2 and restarted KDE1.1.2. For some reason "kicker" from KDE2 started also - so now I had to panels at the bottom of the screen. I could not get rid of the KDE2 one. Any ideas as to what I need to edit to get rid of this?
