For the moment I am using KMail 4.8.3 and although it is not without flaws it let me do my emails. Have stopped Nepomuk and do not have serious problems with the speed and akonadi. Would say, it is worth a try. Do an upgrade.
same here. 4.8.3 was largely a bugfix and stability update, and compared to 4.7.2 things got much better. even during earlier versions, i think from 4.5.x onwards, i didn't have as serious problems with kmail as many others did, perhaps because i keep all my mail in a local dovecot server, which doesn't get easily affected by kmail misfunction. since 4.8.3, even akonadi/nepomuk/strigi works well for me, without consuming too many resources -- and it does find files it has indexed, even though i don't use this feature much. but before i got all this to work, i had to start over with a fresh $HOME, since up to and during 4.7.x i had something messed up in my configuration which i wasn't able to figure out. since i installed openSUSE 12.2 on my working machine i started with a fresh $HOME, and everything KDE related works extremely well now. i think it's asking too much to expect a flawless upgrade path for all this akonadi/nepoumuk stuff; it's too complicated for this, and starting over does allow you to import your old data once you got everything working ok. -- phani. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
