The other thread seemed to be about VMWare Workstation.. So, I was wondering if anyone has successfully setup VMWare Server V2 on x86-64. I have tried downloading the latest (VMware-server-2.0.2-203138.x86_64.rpm) and get 'multiple' errors... Thanks, John.
Just try again following these instructions: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-install-vmware-server-2-0-x-in- ubuntu-9-10-karmic.html
The patch is named "vmware-server.2.0.1_x64-modules-2.6.30.4-fix.tgz", so I suppose it only works for that vmware version, not for 2.0.2. We also have kernel 2.6.31, so again, that might be a problem.

You're right, it does NOT work. Also, if you tweak it to get it to work, you'll be in patch hell for a long time since VMware doesn't really care about quick fixes to adapt their code to the latest O/S versions.
I reverted back to 11.1 for my host, it's a lot easier than doing code edits and patches for every kernel update.
Anders.
Well I've got VMware-server-2.0.2-203138.x86_64 and 2.6.31.5-0.1-default and at the moment Windows 7 :( is running as normal. YMMV Dave
