I tried Maelstrom again today.....it's still "busted." It will NOT work with the OSS drivers. I'm surprised a fixed version didn't ship with 5.3.
I'm currently using kernel compiled sound (SB AWE32 PnP), but prior to this I used the free OSS driver which comes with the SuSE 5.2 CD set. With either I've had fine sound in Maelstrom.
I switched to compiled sound when I found out that RealAudio 5.0 would not work with the free OSS which comes with SuSE 5.2.
I have the AWE-64 (ISA), and was unable to get sound compiled as a module or in the kernel, so paid my $20 for the OSS drivers. I notified the writer of Maelstrom sometime ago that it was not compatible with the OSS drivers, but there never was a fixed version, as far as I know.
