Hi,

Instead, "browse" to the file - but I only see "browse" when the file is an image. Weird.

now its there.
Yes, but with new line breaks.
still the questions:
a) why did my susepaste command not work.
I do not know, but I think it does not recognize the format.
and b) what file is this, how to open it correct (linux only), because i have a customer who always send me such files and is not able to change format.
I think his mail program altered it. The file was generated by "Microsoft Excel 9", but it has been saved as email, not as an attached file. You need to extract the file first from the email. (!). Maybe the correct extension is ".eml". I would suggest your correspondent to first zip the excel file, then attach the zip instead. If mail programs think this is text, they can alter it. For instance, text attachments in email, like this one: Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" can change the line end marking and charset when going from windows to Linux or reverse.
