Could it be, there is a ZIP drive (iomega, ppa-interface) connected to your parallel port and this may be the cause of 'no lp interfaces found' ? Unluckily the precompiled kernel delivered with SUSE 5.1 includes ppa support directly, thereby - I guess - blocking the printer. So I probably have to recompile the kernel and include both lpd and ppa as modules to be able to use parallel port ZIP drive and parallel printing ? The respective loading and removal of these modules seems a bit awkward to me. *** Why can WIN95 run parallel port ZIP drive and parallel printer simultaneously on lp1, whereas LINUX cannot (according to the 5.1 manual) ?
