have you tried type minicom press alt + z m to initalise modem d to dialing dir arrow key to manual at the bottom of the screen enter the number then back to dial Ive noticed the modem sound is turned off so *possibly* your not hearing it dial it should dial then beep when connected wait for your login on your isp then you should be in a shell on your isp of course this may or may not work... Im no expert ;-) oh I see you have a plug & play modem. That may be a problem.
