I'll venture a guess and say it is most likely not DHCPv6. There _are_ reasons for using DHCPv6, but I doubt if any apply in a consumer setting.
DHCPv6 was the only way to provide DNS information for a long time, so it almost certainly *is* used, just not for address assignment.
