How can i change the format of the command line prompt? Like redhat's ' [username@computername folder] #. SuSE's is very anoying it reminds me of DOS showing the absolute pathname instead of just the current folder.
You'll want to add this to your .bashrc file: PS1="[\u@\h:\w]$ " (include the quotes) See the bash(1) man page or the BASH-PROMPT HOWTO for more information on how to set PS1 to your liking.
Also how do i get rid of the have a great time when i ssh into a suse machine?
That "have a great time" message is in your /etc/motd file. Change it to whatever suits you. -- JAY VOLLMER JVOLLMER@VISI.COM TEXT REFS DOUBLEPLUSUNGOOD SELFTHINK VERGING CRIMETHINK IGNORE FULLWISE
