Is it possible to make an alternate dial number to my ISP that runs automatically when the default one failed (for some reasons). I have to 'load an alternate configuration profile' in yast1 (which it must be root).
If you're using wvdial, then you can set up a configuration for an 'alternate ISP'. Edit /etc/wvdial.conf and create a new section similar to the following: [Dialer OtherNumber] Phone = 0123456789 Change the dialer name (in this case OtherNumber) and phone number. You may also have to change the username and password. Then, if you want to connect using the other phone number, just type 'wvdial OtherNumber' or whatever. Unfortunately this isn't automatic, but at least it should be quicker than what you're currently doing. This problem does sound familiar, and I'm sure I know a solution, but I have no idea what it is just now (useful...). I'll have another think, but this should be alright for just now.
