That's why SuSE keep on releasing updates - unfortunately the pre-compiled stuff must all be replaced when glibc2.1 is installed. You could just download the sources & compile it all yourself :(

Yes, but glibc2.0, not glibc2.1. You may need another RPM. SuSE 6.2 will be based on glibc2.1.
Is it correct to say that there is zero chance of a program linked against glibc2.0 working when it is linked against glibc2.1?
If so, how are we supposed to upgrade our libraries without upgrading every single package on the machine? I thought the libc5 to libc6 (aka glibc2) effort was going to be the last major upheaval...
