This topic has been addressed on SLE at least a *dozen* times, if not three, since the release of 10.1. So your answer is definitely in the archives, which can be searched here:

In addition, I would recommend checking the multiple installation sources described on opensuse.org, particularly 'suser-guru' and 'packman'.

Either you completely misunderstood my problem or that URL has the worst search engine I've ever run across. I searched for 'DVD', 'movie', and 'video'. None of the hits discussed what software needs to be located and installed in order to make xine, et al, actually play DVDs or any of the formats that are available today.
