Hi, I read about this but my ideas are still confused . + How GNOME and WindowMaker can be compared ??? + Are they both Wm + Is windowMaker built on top of GNOME ??? Any clues Will be welcomed... I have to learn I keep RTFM but I m always glad when someone helps :) Regards GH Portefait Gnome is a desktop environment ( application suite ) , WindowMaker is a windowmanager. You can run gnome with any # of different windowmanagers. I choose to run it with E and esd. WindowMaker is not built on top of Gnome, in the sense that Gnome is not a depency requirement. The actual desktop environment associated with WindowMaker is GNUstep, for which I'm told it will be the native windowmanager, as much as I suspect the primary windowmanagers associated most with Gnome, will probably wind up being E. -M
