I thought so too at first, but this is NOT true. I have now installed openSUSE 11 on this laptop, with KDE 3.5.9. with latest updates and KNetworkmanager displays the same symptoms it did on openSUSE 11 with KDE 4.1. So the problem isn't KDE 4, it's somehow related to openSUSE 11.
Yes, and in this regard it appears to be Network Manager that's at fault. It also doesn't play well with scpm (and I don't know which program is at fault) so you can't use Network Manager (knetwork manager is a gui front end for network manager) if you need to configure changing nfs networks, for example.
