Let me describe what I have done:
1. hardware connection (everything shut down) 2. machine up 3. YAST configuration of the ethernet card (I have removed any trace about previous LAN connection such static IP, Gateway and DNS) 4. modem up --> all the leds on were the same of WinXP, and dmesg tells me that the modem is properly recognised 5. installation of rp-pppoe 3.5 software and configuration with alla the stuff (including DNS given by the server) 6. loading of the kernel modules for ADSL connection (pppoe, etcetc.)
There was no way to access to Internet: the connection was timed out even increasing the connection waiting time. I suppose that the two items couldn't see each other: do you have any idea about how to fix this problem ? Or do you have any alternative solution in order to become a happy web surfer with my new very fast connection using this device ?? ;-) [I know that someone could configure adsl connection even using only pppoe and without configuring ethernet card at all with the same ISP but under DEBIAN distro]
Yast > Network devices > dsl configure > PPP over Ethernet > configure ethernet card > choose an IP address such as 192.168.2.21 > routing > insert dns server IP next > select Internet service provider > custom provider > New > insert login and password - dial on demand save That's it. You don't even need to install rp-ppoe. Kinternet will launch . Try to ping the dns server IP, this should launch the connection. FX
