I'm setting up and old computer to use dualboot 11.1 and XP. I began to partition the drive using the 11.1 dvd (box) and installed the distro on the way I used a personal partition sheme. personal, but very simple: primary one windows, rest extended and swap / and data ext3 partitions. When I tried to install XP later, I couldn't. * The primary one partition was seen as unknown. normal, I didn't setup the partition type nor format it. * a small 8gb (on a 110Gb drive) free space was found (or may be 8Mo??) * XP refused to use the unknown partition. * I tried to remove the partition and recreate it. Good. * Format it NTFS good, XP copied it's file to the filesystem. but at reboot time, I had the message "bad partition table" and XP didn't start In a hurry, I removed all the partition, setup a slightly smaller primary one (just to be able to recover 11.1 if needed) and the XP install went well. So I see I missed a step in the partitioning to allow XP install without problem.
