Are you using the synaptics driver (I think Jerry said he is)? I've been using the defaults from YaST ...and just turning the damned touchpad off when it becomes squirrely as I type. It's a hassle, but not as much as seeing things happening on the screen at the speed of my fingers on the keys (which ain't slow :-\).
I'm using the default for 9.0 also. On boot I'm doing a "tpconfig -t0" to turn off the tapping on the touchpad. That fixed most of the erratic stuff. With tapping on, it seems like typing alone will be detected as taps, causing all kinds of unexpected surprises. The X11 config file changes also slowed down the scroller to a much more reasonable speed. Those were the two most annoying things. I thought for the longest time that I had bad hardware, but then I noticed that everything worked fine in XP, which I'm almost never in. Good luck Jim
