Hello: I am trying to set up my network card and DSL network connection in openSUSE 11.1. It worked but I wanted to change settings so that I could use ssh through vpn channel. Therefore I started playing with the setup in yast. I also touched /etc/sysconfig/network directory (I have a backup) and removed files from it (which belonged to the previous setup). I have not changed anything in if-down.d, if-up.d and scripts directory. Now the system recognizes the network card but I can not edit it. The error message is: "RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (Not connected) BusID : 0000:00:13.0 Unable to configure the network card because the kernel device (eth0, wlan0) is not present. This is mostly caused by missing firmware (for wlan devices). See dmesg output for details." 1. Beforehand it worked and I could edit settings. 2. My network card is an onboard card, according to the motherboard's manual it is a RealTek RTL8100C. Is this equal to the above one, RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+? My motherboard is Gigabyte GA-7VM400MF-P. Any help is appeciated. Thanks, Istvan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
