In the documentation I see this: Warning: File System for Booting The file system used for booting (the root file system or |/boot|) must not be stored on an LVM logical volume. Instead, store it on a normal physical partition. https://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/leap/reference/html/book.opensuse.ref... However, I have installed Leap 42.3 and I accepted a recommended partition layout (although I did change it and go back and forth a few times) and it put the /boot partition on the system-root logical volume. I have a grub2 rescue disc and I found I was still able to use it provided I 'insmod lvm' first.
