In a round about way it suggests that sigs should only contain a name but then reluctantly allows a limited extended sig. On other mailing list I usually use the version of software that I am using as part of my sig. On cups it would include my cups version too and so on. All relevant information.
In fact, I read the exact opposite. Especially the quoting of sigs is rediculous.
Me I keep some mails off lists for ref and as many snip them in way that looses reference to the subject I have to edit and add to them sometimes before sending them to myself. :)
no one will fault you for how you handle your own storage space unless you specifically ask. But please defer to the list decorum.
