Now i'm really need your help. I'm first time going to setup soundcard under linux( i usually work with servers) Sound card is Creative Labs Sounblaster Live! Value.. As i understand ALSA make alfa driver for it couple of weeks ago. My question here: 1) Is it will be fine to setup driver directly form ALSA web site or i should wait for SuSE update.
I wouldn't recommend using ALSA on your SBLive! just yet. The ALSA Project is a fantastic organization, but they are still not fully ready for production in a lot of ways. I'd personally rather use the driver straight from Creative (I think it's http://linux.creativlabs.com, but don't quote me). Compile it yourself and follow the instructions. Works great on our Athlon/G400/SBLive! Platinum box here :). Isn't it nice to see someone running the same hardware you are :].
3) Will it available in SuSE 6.3?
This is a problem that SuSE needs to get their hands slapped for :). They went to all of the trouble to hire Jaraslov Kyslea, but they're notoriously *bad* about keeping the ALSA RPMs on the CD's up to date. For instance, when SuSE 6.2 was released, it shipped with ALSA 0.3.0pre5 (ALSA 0.4.1 was already on the alsa-project.org ftp site by that time). -- -=|JP|=- (Resident GNUbie) Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions -o) jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 _\_V -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
