Robert "I taught at Stanford" Cringely displays his resume on his website. It used to include the claim that he "taught at Stanford University". Someone checked at Stanford and discovered that he was a lab assistant there for a short period of time. Cringely seems to make a living by promoting desention, as he bragged on his PBS special, "Nerds 101", or by playing favorites. He is not a programmer, and he has no training in science or math. FUDing for M$ doesn't seem to be beneath him. One might ask if anything was beneath him if money is involved. It is quite obvious that he appears to be "knowledgable" only to those who are not. I am so amazed at how much these people DON'T know. Why do they pick an app such as staroffice and discount everything else. This guy has to have heard that Corel has Wordperfect 8 for Linux all shrinkrapped and in stores..and the whole office suite on the way. I mean I use StarOffice don't get me wrong, but there are a lot of apps out there. This guy should come to St. Louis..I will find him and his cohorts better grades of crack rocks...sheesh. Can anyone say scramble to get a story out?
If You Can't Beat Him, Join Him How Microsoft Plans to Drive Linus Torvalds Insane by Introducing MS-Linux
By Robert X. Cringely
"With 7 million copies of Linux out there, and the StarOffice Suite the only application game in town, Microsoft will see this as very similar to its quite profitable Macintosh application business. In fact, Microsoft has probably concluded that it can't afford to NOT be in the Linux market, especially now that its big database competitors have embraced the platform. And the best part is they can use this surprise attack to distract us when all the Windows 2000 disaster stories start to appear." -- Ben Rosenberg ----------------||--------------------- "Whatever separates you from the truth, throw it away, it will vanish anyhow." ----------------||--------------------- mailto:sinthetk@inlink.com
