I didn't want to post each in seperate mails.
- I changed preferred display manager from kdm to gdm. On boot time, as the last line before "linux login :", it says gdm service has failed. But then opens gdm login window; and it seems ok for me. It doesn't bug me, i'm asking this just in case there's a problem that i can't know.
I notice the same thing, actually it says that xdm failed. But it still displays the login manager just fine. I looked in /var/log/boot.msg and it just says xdm failed, no error message. I noticed that the line that reads: "Starting service gdm ...." has "WINDOWMANAGER=/usr/X11R6/bin/kde". I removed all of KDE though, is this why the service fails? /usr/X11R6/bin/kde does not exist, I'll try changing this to /usr/X11R6/bin/gnome when I get home, it seems to be set in files in /etc/SuSEconfig/ Unfortunately I have no answers your other questions. Actually, I didn't even answer this one. :( Josh
- Which linux book can you suggest me? It must be up-to-date & must fit to suse. I don't need much about server administration. What i do want is, end-user side of KDE and/or gnome, and also programming in linux. (Of course, it must be available online for i live in Turkey..)
- In bash, when i use "set" command, it doesn't work. Instead, the code for "set" comes up. But in tcsh, it works as expected.
- What generally may be a "relocation error" ?
- In KDE, Ctrl-T opens a terminal window at the same path with the active Konqueror window. In Gnome, is there any shortcut for this?
- What can i do to be able to write in Turkish at OpenOffice? Where can i find suitable fonts & how can i install them?
TIA,
