Unloading USB modules before PCMCIA

      I use a cardbus USB2 adapter to access a USB2 HDD (for backups and archiving) 
when in the office.  Using SuSE 8.1, when shutting down without unloading the 
modules ehci-hcd and ohci-hcd, the shutdown process hangs when shutting down 
pcmcia.

I tried adding the rmmod lines to halt.local, but these are called too late.  
Where can I add the rmmod lines to automatically unload the USB modules?  Or 
am I going about this the wrong way?
