Hi Peter, It isn't there... can you tell me how to install it? Is it one package? If so, is it gdm? because I tried installing that and it still doesn't show up... thanks, matt Peter Van Lone wrote:

Hi,
I've installed SuSE 10.0 on intel hardware with the defaults. So, I have KDE. I'd like to try Gnome, but I can't figure out how to log into it as a desktop. On my logon screen, it is not one of the choices for an environment. Shouldn't the default install have put it there? If not, how can I install it and try it out?
did you install GNOME? If you just used "defaults" I think that only one X environment is installed.
If installed, it would/should appear as a choice on your logon screen.
