Yes, use xfstt from ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/X11/fonts/. I just use the fonts from all the free sites found on Yahoo, but if you have some already, make sub-directory like "/usr/ttfonts" as xfstt looks there for one.
After compiling and installing, do this......
You have to run xfstt twice:
xfstt --sync xfstt &
then: xset fp+ unix/:7100 <--- Not sure exactly xset fp rehash
Now you can use the fonts in apps like Gimp.
You may also need to add a line to your XF86Config file. Consult the instructions... The bad thing is that if you want to use bold fonts for Netscape documents, you have to include the bold TT font in the ttfonts subdirectory -- while NS allows you to specify attributes for QUOTED material in mail or postings, it doesn't allow it for normal documents or compositions. Moreover, it will only see the FIRST font with a given name, so if you have both Comic and Comic bold fonts in your ttfonts directory, it will only use the first one it encounters. Crude, huh? What really gripes me is that the Arial bold font from my win95 installation is the most readable one :-( Maybe NS 5.0 will be better... -- Cheers, Bev ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Where's the ladies' sty?
