I think it would try to download so much that you will be better off downloading the latest SUSE (9.3 or 10, which is almost out) - does Novell still support SUSE 8?

Enterprise Server 8 yes (updates are on sdb.suse.de/download)

SUSE Linux Professional 8.x, no

For some architectures (IBM Z-series, for example), I think SLES 8 is the most current version. That may have changed since I last checked, but as of pretty recently that was the case.
