Hi All I am new to the linux scene and decided to install and use OpenSuse after having some fun on SuSE a couple of years ago. Anyway the installation went smoothly and I got to log in .. this is where my problems started. Its mainly related to the display. Here is my Video setup: Flatron L192WS. MSI Nvidia 8600GT 512 MB The problem is the following. The screen only displays the KDE desktop in the right 3/4 of the screen. Basically there is a blank square next to the desktop. I can see the whole desktop but it is squashed to the right. During the final bit of the install I noticed that YaST did not correctly identify my monitor and made it a VESA 1024X768 display. My monitor is not listed in the YaST configuration as well. I tried the LCD screen settings and I have not had any success. I would love to run this screen in the 1440 X 900 resolution. Ok enough background. I am worried that I am missing something here. I did NOT install the NVidia driver since YaST picked up the Graphics card. My gut feel is that this is a Video driver issue. However I am not sure. I do have the NVidia Driver on a DVD. It came with some Linux magazine. Should I install these? Any help? Please?
